SexGen North is a network for scholars and students in gender, women’s, queer, trans and feminist studies (and similar) in higher education institutions in Northern England.
We aim to: (1) protect and celebrate these disciplines in higher education institutions in Northern England; (2) foster cross-institutional collaboration and support scholars in these disciplines; (3) establish Northern England as a hub for gender, women’s, queer, trans and feminist studies internationally.
Our way of working is interdisciplinary, intersectional, collaborative and trans-national, and we are staunchly trans- and sex worker-inclusive. We are committed to opposing and tackling racism, classism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, gender-based violence, colonial legacies and cultural discrimination. We are also committed to resisting the attacks on our disciplines from anti-gender movements and right-wing populism.
Many of our events are open to the public: please subscribe for information. If you are a scholar in gender, women’s, queer, trans or feminist studies (and similar) and wish to join the network, please fill in the form.
